Bipartisanship is a cause basically every politician pledges his or her support for, but how many actually succeed at it? We all love principled, unwavering politicians who stand firm in their ideals, and we love to hate on those spineless moderates and sellouts who give in to the opposition. But could it be that it is precisely because we demand this of our leaders that compromises have become so hard? In this climate, sometimes the moderates are the real heroes. It takes more courage to defy your own party than to resist the opposition. In that spirit, here are some examples of great political compromises:
Trump administration announces crackdown on MS-13:
Today many claim journalism is dead. They claim there is no one who will just report the news without adding their own prejudices and political preferences. It may be true, but last week a journalist did something unique – he told us something we didn’t already know, and made a difference. These days on TV and Radio news all we hear is Trump, Trump, Trump. But on April 13, Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” host Tucker Carlson told America about a dangerous group in America called MS-13. It’s an organization he described as a “mostly immigrant street gang” a bigger threat to public safety than ISIS. Carlson offered examples of MS-13 violence and pointed out that while there are likely a “few hundred” active ISIS members in the United States, there were 6,000 members of MS-13 domestically and 30,000 abroad.Read Full Story
Since traveling to Wisconsin for a speech and bill signing, President Trump has added another country to the list of countries that he feels treat US trade unfairly. That country is Canada. “What they’ve done to our dairy farm workers is a disgrace. It’s a disgrace,” Trump told reporters.
