Seth Meyers doctors clip of Trump interview, among other things

Ever wanted to see authentic propaganda?

In a scathing segment on President Donald Trump, late night show host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Seth Meyers, scolded and mocked the President for how he talks, how he tweets, the tax plan, and mocked Chief of Staff, General John Kelly. It was awful.

First, he brought up a tweet from the President referring to a Politico poll that found that 46% of voters believe that the media make up stories about Trump. What did Seth Meyers have to say about that: The tweet was in caps!!! Who takes a guy who tweets in capital letters seriously??? Next.

Next, he lies about the GOP cutting Medicare by $473 billion and Medicaid by $1 trillion. He claimed that because that’s what the GOP budget proposes, while in reality the budget is just to pave the way for tax reform and won’t actually do any of those things (as conservatives are keenly aware.) The “budget” is meaningless, it doesn’t do anything other than allow the Senate to vote on tax reform.

Then he quotes CNN and the liberal Tax Policy Center for analysis on the actual tax plan. Whatever. (He quotes the Tax Policy Center’s analysis that “By 2027, more than one of every four middle-income families would pay more in taxes… mostly due to the loss of itemized deductions such as those for state and local taxes” That is a fair criticism that was pointed out to Trump by Senator Rand Paul, who told the President he would not vote for it if it was not fixed. Trump accepted the criticism and told his aids to fix it.)

But here’s where it gets really bad: Meyers played part of an interview Trump did with Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business. Meyers shows this:

BARTIROMO:  But, see, that’s what I don’t understand and I followed your policies really closely.  The state and local income tax deduction eliminations you take that away and then you go to a fifth bracket or a fourth bracket however you want to say it and you get a higher rate for their top earners.

TRUMP:  Right.

BARTIROMO:  If the top earners pay 80 percent of the taxes why are you so afraid to cut taxes on the top earners?

TRUMP:  I think this, look, you know, I am very happy with the way I’ve done part of this in my civilian life, all right.

BARTIROMO:  Of course.  This is not about —

TRUMP:  Other people — well it’s about me representing rich people.

TRUMP:  Representing — being representative of rich people.  Very interesting to me Bob Kraft was down.  He was very nice.  He owns the Patriots.  He gave me a Super Bowl ring a month ago. Which was very nice.  That’s right.  But he left this beautiful ring and I immediately give it to the White House and they put it some place and that’s the way it is.

BARTIROMO:  That’s great.

TRUMP:  He said to me –

Boom. It stops, and Meyers starts mocking Trump for making no sense and talking about things that have nothing to do with anything.

But if he would keep playing the clip, you’d hear:

TRUMP: He said to me — he’s a good man.  He said to me you have to do us all a favor, give the tax decrease to the middle class, we don’t need it.  We don’t need it.  We don’t want it.  Give it to the middle class.  And, I’ve had many people, very wealthy people tell me the very same thing.  I’ve had very few say I want more, I want more.

What is wrong with that? Why can’t he just play the whole clip?
